Some machines don’t just race… they make history.
This piece started being created on location at the Mint 400 in Las Vegas, right in the middle of the dust, noise, and energy that makes this event one of the most iconic off-road races in the world.
The subject… a vintage Ford step side with a story behind it.... and of course the major sponsor tire at the front of the car... bf Goodrich
Originally built by Walker Evans and campaigned by actor Larry Wilcox from the TV series CHiPs… this vehicle carries a legacy far beyond the track. It was brought out to the Mint 400 VIP tent by its current owner, and the moment I saw it… I knew it had to be captured.
There’s something about pieces like this.
They’re not just about the machine… they’re about what it represents.
The history. The people. The era.
Created from direct reference gathered on site… this artwork holds the atmosphere of the Mint 400 within it. The dust, the movement, the raw mechanical presence… all brought back into the studio and refined into a piece that tells more than just what you see.
This isn’t just a race car.
It’s a moment in motorsport history.
